Will I meet my new dog walker?

Every new customer will get a face to face meeting with Matt Rood, the founder of ROODDOG. He will go through all of your requirements, and you will be allocated a dog walker.  We always try to keep the same dog walker for every dog for consistency, the only exception being holidays and staff absences. We also do monthly meets ups where you can meet up with all our dog walkers and walk with us and our dogs while we show you where we walk your dog.

How many dogs do you walk at any one time?

ROODDOG will walk no more than 6 dogs at any one time. Each dog has to pass a Behaviour Assessment too by our in house and Founder Matt Rood. All walkers go through an extensive training program with us and are regularly assessed.
Group dog walking is a fantastic way to socialise your dog and build their confidence and they gain greatly from this social aspect of their walks.

Can I specify a particular time for my dog to be walked?

Yes of course. We offer 3 hourly walks a day. A 9am/12pm and 2pm walk. Also add on an hour either side for pick up and drop home. We do try our best to stick to these times, but due to traffic, weather etc these times may vary slightly. We will always contact you to inform you if we are running early/or later than schedule.Group dog walking is a fantastic way to socialise your dog and build their confidence and they gain greatly from this social aspect of their walks.

How long are dog walks?

All our walks are for a minimum of 1 hour long, plus please do add on an hour either side for pick up and drop home. These times may vary on the day depending on the dogs locations, traffic or weather.

Where will my dog be walked?

We walk our dogs at Waterhall, Southwick Hill and Sheepcote Valley.

These are chosen mainly for accessibility for the walkers and to keep the dogs in the vans for a minimum time. They are away from any main roads. Safe parking and plenty of space to get 6 dogs in and out of the vans and great access points onto the walk. Variety on the walks includes open fields for those dogs loving to chase and play, then dense woodland for dogs who enjoy sniffing and exploring.

We love Waterhall Park because of the natural beauty and great surroundings, and the dogs we walk love running up and down the hills.

and Southwick Hill is a brilliant open space that allows our dogs a lot of freedom and places to explore safely.

The dogs we walk love Sheepcote Valley, because of all the greenery they can jump, run and hide in. They love to play with each other, running free or on a lead if needed.

The main reasons these locations are chosen are that they are away from the general public and mainly used just for walking dogs.

My dog is nervous around other dogs, will you be able to walk him?

Yes of course. If your dog is very nervous around other dogs, the biggest benefit of group dog walking is how much it can improve your dog’s socialisation/confidence. Therefore if your dog is nervous but non-aggressive we can start off with their first walk, with another friendly dog. Then slowly introduce him/her to an appropriate group of friendly dogs, a little bit at a time. We love seeing how quickly they can gain confidence and settle into group dog walking with a little support and reassurance from one of our lovely dog walkers.

Do I need to be at home when you collect or drop off my dog?

No, we are fully insured to hold your keys, which enables us to collect and drop off your dog while you’re not at home. All keys are kept in a key safe at your area managers home address and will never be marked with anything other than the name of your dog.

What safety measures do you have?

All our walkers are experienced and receive full training in dog handling and canine first aid. All dogs are fitted with a GPS Tracker when in our care.

What happens in an emergency?

In an emergency situation, we will call you immediately to discuss the event. If we can’t get hold of you, urgent veterinary attention is required. We will take your dog to your nominated veterinary surgery.

Are you looking for a dog walker in Worthing?

Can I just have occasional dog walks?

Yes of course. We are very happy to offer ad-hoc walks or regular walks. We are incredibly flexible and that’s why we have created a booking system to suit your needs. You just need to set up an account and you are ready to book walks. Each walk will show you how many spaces are left. You are even able to book a walk an hour before it starts if available.

Can I meet the person who will be walking my dog?

Yes. We strongly recommend that you have an introductory meeting with your dog walker at your home to discuss your requirements prior to walks taking place. These can be arranged at short notice for a time that is convenient for you.

Will my dog be walked by the same person each day?

Most of the time, yes you will have a dedicated walker. However, there may be the odd occasion due to illness or annual leave where we will need to change walkers. The backup walker will be fully briefed on your dog’s specific needs. All our team are very experienced and well trained.

Can you do evening and weekend dog walking?

Unfortunately, we don’t offer evening walks. Our latest walk of the day is 2 pm Monday to Friday. We do offer a Saturday walk which is a new service. Walk times on a Saturday are early afternoon. Prices do vary for Saturday prices, so please refer to our prices page for specific charges

Do I have to pay for dog walks upfront?

For safety reasons, we do not conduct walks in an evening. Our latest walk of the day is 3 pm Monday to Friday. We do not offer weekend walks.

Do you take bitches in season?

No. Unfortunately it is ROODDOG policy to not take a bitch which is in season. We look forward to welcoming back your dog after a week after the last sign.

DO YOUR SERVICES CATER FOR ALL dog BREEDS?

We take each pet on its own merit and not on the reputation of particular breeds. We meet all dogs before we walk them and each new dog is subject to a trial period and a behavioural assessment by our Behaviourist

DO YOU WALK DOGS OFF THE LEAD?

We will only let your dog off the lead once we have fully bonded and formed a relationship with your dog. A dog walking application will be given to you at the beginning to fill out and we must have written/signed consent too, to allow your dog off the lead. If your dog is not so good on their recall we prefer to keep them on a long lead and let them run and play in safety.

Enquire with Rood Dog today if you need a reliable Dog Walker in Worthing

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY DOG DOESN’T GET ON WITH ANOTHER DOG?

We carefully pick which dogs will walk together, if we find an imbalance within the group we will switch accordingly and inform you of our decision. We want your dog to enjoy their walk with ROODDOG.

WHAT HAPPENS IN BAD WEATHER?

We get wet and muddy lol!! Each van has a cleaning system called MUD DADDY and we will do our best to clean and dry your dog off as much as possible.

I’m on the very edge of the area you cover, how much do you charge for travelling?

We don’t charge for travelling. Provided you are located in the area, pick up and drop off is covered in the price of the dog walking.

I’m so happy to have found ROODDOG – from the first point of contact Matt was communicative and forthcoming (meeting us the next day and Monty on his first walk the day after) and Monty LOVED his first walk with him. The icing on the cake is the Instagram stories of the dogs on the walk – when I’ve got a long day it’s so nice/comforting to log on and see Monty having a ball with his new pals and being made a fuss of. I’m so impressed with what Matt and his team offer! Would recommend to the moon and back.

Matt ran a training session for dogs when my 8 year old shihtzu/Maltese cross Roxy, was about 2mths old and she has loved him ever since. We used day care at his previous employment and now I use him for weekend stays when I am away. I trust him implicitly and Roxy does too
I recommend ROODDOG for anything to do with dogs

Matt has been looking after my two spaniels for over a year now. Cannot recommend him enough! Always reliable. Excellent rapport with the dogs – they absolutely love him! It’s hard to tire out a young springer spaniel but Matt’s walks just do the trick. There is 100% trust in his professionalism. Plus he is constantly working on improving the experience for his clients – both dogs and their parents. GPS trackers were a brilliant idea!

We’ve only had one training session with Matt so far, but it was fantastic. He really took time to understand the issues and had great advice on how to deal with them. Easy and simple tricks but Matt was keen to ensure our dog remained a dog and not a robot! Would definitely recommend.

We love Rooddog and Matt and most importantly our cockapoo does too! Bonnie has been walking with Matt for 3 years and she absolutely adores him (sometimes a little bit too much!). He has also helped us with her training and he is very knowledgeable on that.
Matt is completely reliable, trustworthy and communicative; the little videos of his walks on Facebook and Instagram keep us entertained. I never have any worries when Bonnie is out with him.
I would recommend Matt to anyone who is looking for a superb dog walker. Thank you Matt!
