about Rich
Hey, I’m Rich. I currently live in Hove with my fiancee and my 2-year-old English Bullmastiff, Betty.
I’ve been working with Matt for over a year now after deciding to make a big career change from the construction world to pursue my love of canine creatures. Being the proud dog-father of Betty, means I know how important it is for your furry companions to have a great time socialising and exploring on their daily walks. I plan to further my training in 2021 to include dog behaviour training so that in the future i can offer 1:1 training. Soon, I will also be offering home boarding.
Whilst out with the ROODOG pack, I aim to maintain a happy and calm atmosphere to ensure your dogs have the best experience during their walk. I am experienced in walking and confident in handling large breeds as well as little ones.
I will provide a reliable, trustworthy, and friendly service ensuring your dogs feel safe and content throughout their time with me.
I have my Canine First Aid qualification and have undertaken extensive training with Matt, who graduated from the International Animal Behaviour Training College (IABTC). This enables me to deliver a first-class service to my clients offering assurance that their dogs are in safe hands.

about Jake
Hey I’m Jake! Growing up in Shropshire I’ve always had a love for nature. Living by the farm started my love for animals leading to me getting my old English sheepdog mickey! Mickey is a fun-loving boy who still thinks he’s a puppy!
He now has a little sister Zulu who keeps him on his toes! Five years ago I moved to the seaside in Brighton. Mickey and Zulu love coming to the beach with me and watching me paddleboard! I have several years of experience in customer service working in management roles dealing with different people every day. I love meeting new people and gaining trust especially when it comes to something as important as someone’s fur baby!
about Louise
Hi I'm Louise, I currently live in Hailsham but am originally from Brighton. I live with my fiancé and 2 chihuahuas Rambo and Ripley, who are age 9 and 10.
I have worked in the leisure industry for over 20 years but during lockdown decided on a change of career. As a dog owner myself I have always loved animals so this is my dream job. What could possibly be better than to be out walking with some furry friends enjoying the fresh air and nature.
I love to meet new people, coming from a customer service background, I want to ensure that i provide you an excellent customer service experience. I look forward to meeting you and your dogs, and will make it a positive and fun experience for all.
about Donna
Hi everyone!
My name is Donna, I currently live in Hove, I moved here 14 years ago from Surrey. My background is working as a freelance makeup artist in London and have over 25 years of retail management and customer service experience. When I moved to Brighton, I had the pleasure of working at Choccywoccydoodah as a Retail Manager for 10 years.
Over the years I have had many fur babies and because of my love and passion for dogs, I have now decided to have a complete change of career. I am currently studying to do my level 3 diploma in Canine Care, Welfare and Behaviour.
I am so excited to be joining the “ROODDOG” team and to spend my day in the great outdoors walking all your gorgeous dogs. Whilst your furry friends are in my care, I will give great customer service. I am reliable, trustworthy and will make sure your furry friends are safe, well looked after and have the best time on their walks.
About Peach
Hello ! I’m Peach and it’s my absolute pleasure to welcome your dogs along to our daily adventures. I am from Glasgow but, like many have found a home in Brighton. I am lucky enough to have a beautiful dog called Goose who is a Saluki x and the love of my life.
I raised Goose by myself and because of his frightening epilepsy diagnosis as a young puppy, I have learned how to care for vulnerable dogs whilst making sure fun is the top priority!
I have over ten years of experience in emergency and trauma work but made the career change to embrace an opportunity I’ve always wanted - to work with dogs! I do enjoy getting to know your dog's character and getting the best out of them, particularly nervous dogs who, like many of us, get a little shy around others!
Nothing makes me happier than a pack with lots of tails wagging and everyone having an excellent time.
Like the rest of the team - I’ll look after your wee pals like they are my own. We love what we do at ROODDOG and can’t wait to welcome your best friends into our family.

Will I meet my new dog walker?
Every new customer will get a face to face meeting with Matt Rood, the founder of ROODDOG. He will go through all of your requirements, and you will be allocated a dog walker. We always try to keep the same dog walker for every dog for consistency, the only exception being holidays and staff absences. We also do monthly meets ups where you can meet up with all our dog walkers and walk with us and our dogs while we show you where we walk your dog.
How many dogs do you walk at any one time?
ROODDOG will walk no more than 6 dogs at any one time. Each dog has to pass a Behaviour Assessment too by our in house and Founder Matt Rood. All walkers go through an extensive training program with us and are regularly assessed.
Group dog walking is a fantastic way to socialise your dog and build their confidence and they gain greatly from this social aspect of their walks.
Can I specify a particular time for my dog to be walked?
Yes of course. We offer 3 hourly walks a day. A 9am/12pm and 2pm walk. Also add on an hour either side for pick up and drop home. We do try our best to stick to these times, but due to traffic, weather etc these times may vary slightly. We will always contact you to inform you if we are running early/or later than schedule.Group dog walking is a fantastic way to socialise your dog and build their confidence and they gain greatly from this social aspect of their walks.
How long are dog walks?
All our walks are for a minimum of 1 hour long, plus please do add on an hour either side for pick up and drop home. These times may vary on the day depending on the dogs locations, traffic or weather.
Where will my dog be walked?
We will walk dogs at Devils Dyke, Southwick hill and Lancing hill.
All our walks are carried out in parks and green open spaces where it is safe, secure and interesting for your dog. We vary the locations daily in order to provide variety for your dog. Each of our dog walkers have their own favourite places which they would be happy to discuss with you at your introductory meeting.
My dog is nervous around other dogs, will you be able to walk him?
Yes of course. If your dog is very nervous around other dogs, the biggest benefits of group dog walking is how much it can improve your dog’s socialisation/confidence. Therefore if your dog is nervous but non aggressive we can start off with their first walk, with another friendly dog. Then slowly introduce him/ her to an appropriate group of friendly dogs, a little bit at a time. We love seeing just how quickly they can gain confidence and settle into group dog walking with a little support and reassurance from one of our lovely dog walkers.
Do I need to be at home when you collect or drop off my dog?
No, we are fully insured to hold your keys, which enables us to collect and drop off your dog while you’re not at home. All keys are kept in a key safe at your area managers home address and will never be marked with anything other than the name of your dog.
What safety measures do you have?
All our walkers are experienced and receive full training in dog handling and canine first aid. All dogs are fitted with a GPS Tracker when in our care.
What happens in an emergency?
In an emergency situation we will call you immediately to discuss the event. If we can’t get hold of you and urgent veterinary attention is required. We will take your dog to your nominated veterinary surgery.
Can I just have occasional dog walks?
Yes of course. We are very happy to offer ad-hoc walks or regular walks. We are incredibly flexible and that’s why we have created a booking system to suit your needs. You just need to set up an account and you are ready to book walks. Each walk will show you how many spaces are left. You are even able to book a walk an hour before it starts if available.
Can I meet the person who will be walking my dog?
Yes. We strongly recommend that you have an introductory meeting with your dog walker at your home to discuss your requirements prior to walks taking place. These can be arranged at short notice for a time that is convenient for you.
Will my dog be walked by the same person each day?
Most of the time, yes you will have a dedicated walker. However there may be the odd occasion due to illness or annual leave where we will need to change walkers. The back up walker will be fully briefed on your dog’s specific needs. All our team are very experienced and well trained.
Are the dog walkers insured?
Yes. All ROODDOG staff are fully insured and CRB checked. They all attend an extensive in house training programme.
Will I be charged if I cancel a dog walk at short notice?
We are very flexible when it comes to bookings and 24hrs notice will ensure there is no cancellation fee.
Can you do evening and weekend dog walking?
unfortunately, we don’t offer evening walks. Our latest walk of the day is 2 pm Monday to Friday. We do offer a Saturday walk which is anew service. Walk times on a Saturday are early afternoon. Prices do vary for Saturday prices, so please refer to our prices page for specific charges
Do I have to pay for dog walks upfront?
Yes. We have a booking system which allows you to book your walk and pay for it at the same time. We accept payment by credit or debit card.
Do you take bitches in season?
No. Unfortunately it is ROODDOG policy to not take a bitch which is in season. We look forward to welcoming back your dog after a week after the last sign.
DO YOUR SERVICES CATER FOR ALL dog BREEDS?
We take each pet on its own merit and not on the reputation of particular breeds. We meet all dogs before we walk them and each new dog is subject to a trial period and a behavioural assessment by our Behaviourist
DO YOU WALK DOGS OFF THE LEAD?
We will only let your dog off the lead once we have fully bonded and formed a relationship with your dog. A dog walking application will be given to you at the beginning to fill out and we must have written/signed consent too, to allow your dog off lead. If your dog is not so good on their recall we prefer to keep them on a long lead and let them run and play in safety.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY DOG DOESN’T GET ON WITH ANOTHER DOG?
We carefully pick which dogs will walk together, if we find an imbalance within the group we will switch accordingly and inform you of our decision. We want your dog to enjoy their walk with ROODDOG.
WHAT HAPPENS IN BAD WEATHER?
We get wet and muddy lol!! Each van has a cleaning system called MUD DADDY and we will do our best to clean and dry your dog off as much as possible.
I’m on the very edge of the area you cover, how much do you charge for travelling?
We don’t charge for travelling. Provided you are located in the area, pick up and drop off is covered in the price of the dog walking in Brighton.
